~ Andrea Owensby, Owner/Operator of The Cabin Ridge

For years The Cabin Ridge property served as a family farm, and family gathering place and has always been a place full of warm memories. This mountain top clearing and adjacent steeply wooded land has been in my family for generations. The cabin and the meadow was the homeplace of my grandparents when they married in the  early 1920s. Since that time the cabin has been rebuilt on the existing foundation and the grounds have herb and flower gardens instead of crops worked with mules and plows, but somehow the spirit of sharing and the feeling of peacefulness remains.

With no traditional power in the cabin, the wood cookstove and the light from oil lanterns create an ambience all their own. Rhododendrons, Mountain Laurel and lots of wildflowers are just a look out the window, and watching the sunsets is something not to miss.

Surrounded by forests at an elevation of approx. 3300’, the busy hubbub of cities and roadways seem faraway, but 25 minutes takes you to the unique shops and restaurants of downtown Hendersonville and 20 minutes will land you in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Park. Asheville, with all its historical and cultural influence, is a 45 minute drive. Close by is the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore House, Pisgah National Forest and countless other attractions in the WNC mountains.

For years it has been my passion to protect this wonderfully unique setting from development, to maintain a place for folks to step back into simpler times for a brief respite from the day-to-day hurry, and to be able to soak in the scenes, the sounds and the smells of the surrounding nature without distractions. All the forestland around The Cabin Ridge has been placed in a conservation easement, forever preserving it in its natural state. Rainwater is collected from the barn roof into large storage tanks to provide water for the onsite restrooms. This outdoor wedding & event venue is completely “off the grid”, using solar power for music, sound systems, and lighting.

My grandparents taught me that everything is more special when shared. It is my hope to be able to share the joys of this special place with many folks for many years. Come visit this beautiful Asheville mountain wedding venue in WNC, and make your mountaintop wedding memories at The Cabin Ridge!
